The safety and well-being of all our students is our highest priority. Our business is to know everyone as an individual and to provide a secure and caring environment so that every student can learn in safety. We expect respect, good manners and fairness to be shown by everyone so that every student can develop their full potential and feel positive about themselves.

Testbourne Community School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and requires all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. If you are unclear about anything please speak to a member of reception. If you are concerned about the safety of a student in our school, you must report this to the Senior Designated Safeguard Lead – Mr James Lovegrove. If you are concerned about the conduct of a member of staff or volunteer in our school, you must contact the Headteacher – Mr Jon Beck. If you are concerned about the conduct of the Headteacher, you should contact the Chair of Governors, Mrs Penny Horner.

Visitor Procedures:

Must sign in and out at Reception

  • Will be issued a visitor badge, which must be displayed at all times whilst on site
  • Will be asked to remain under the supervision of a designated staff member whilst on site
  • Visitors wishing to speak to a particular member of staff should telephone the school to make an appointment to avoid disappointment
  • Must not use a smart phone or camera in the vicinity of students
  • Must sign out at Reception and return their visitor badge before leaving the site

Arrival on site:

Reception is located at the main entrance to the school.  Please sign in using the electronic sign in system where you will be issued with a visitors’ badge.  This should be displayed at all times whilst on site.  When departing from school, you will need to sign out and return your badge to the receptionist.

Please keep personal belongings with you at all times whist visiting the school.


Testbourne Community School operates a no smoking policy.  This includes both the grounds and all buildings on site.

First Aid:

For all first aid requirements during the school day, please contact reception and report the location of the person and the extent of the injury.  A trained First Aider will be sent to the scene.  All accidents or near misses must be reported.


Please let us know of any mobility or health issues which may enable us to provide support and assistance. 

On hearing the alarm:

Evacuation of the buildings is necessary and all personnel should leave the building immediately ensuring all doors are closed behind you.  Please evacuate as directed by your host; do not run or stop for personal belongings.

If you discover a fire, raise the alarm at an alarm point immediately. 

The assembly point is located in the playground.  You will need to report to the person responsible to be checked against visitors’ register. 

Please do not re-enter any building until instructed it is safe to do so.
