Online Learning – A Guide for Students and Parents
A student’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.
As a minimum, teachers will set work in the ‘Working from Home’ folders on SharePoint and this work will be broadly the same as what would have been taught in school. However, in some subjects, adaptations have to be made. For example, Drama group work may be replaced with monologues, Dance and PE will be adapted to students working alone, Science practical work may comprise of a video clip to watch, etc.
Joining a lesson
All the lessons are being delivered according to student timetables. Students need to follow the instructions below to join the lesson.
1. A few minutes before the lesson is due to start, log onto Teams and go to the relevant Teams for your timetabled lesson
2. On “General” channel in Posts tab, you will see the lesson notification as below when your teacher is ready to start the lesson:
3. Click “Join” to attend the lesson
When online live lessons begin, the remote curriculum will again be similar to the curriculum that is followed in school. Adjustments will be made to ensure that the curriculum is suitable for online learning.

Teams Via Gaming Console:
As you can log onto Teams by only using a Internet browser, you have the ability to use your games console inbuilt Internet browser to logon and take part. This works particularly well when using an Xbox One or Xbox Series X as they are made by Microsoft and uses Microsoft Edge, which is compatible with Teams. However Sony's Playstation uses a different Internet browser so functionality is limited to text chat only.
